there are many, many valid critiques of generative artificial intelligence. if your critique is centered around copyright, however, you have completely lost the plot!!
a LOT of AI critique is an attempt to retrofit a valid reason for hatred into what is essentially a disgust-based puritanism-adjacent reactionary gut response. "slurs" like "clanker" only add to this - AI is not conscious now but there is no reason to believe it can't be in the future! there is a sort of humanistic belief that something intrinsic about humanity is being violated by the existence of this artificial intelligence. this is essentially a human superiority complex and the same kind of anthropocentrism that leads to environmental degradation and a lack of any kind of animal welfare
copyright is bad!! we should oppose it! it's extremely bad for creative freedom and the amount of small-business-owner feudalistic politics adopted by indie creatives over the issue of AI is extremely disheartening to watch!
as for the environmental stuff i won't even touch that here because i have a life to live and Andy Masley already covers that for me
should i follow this up with a principled critique of AI, to show you all how it's done?
